When I’ve read the synopsis, I had to think about the movie ‘Notting Hill’ famous Hollywood star and a real nice guy from Notting hill. And I really wanted to read it.
I really favoured Nick, having a cruch for somebody, standing at the sideline watching over her. He waited till the moment was there. He followed his heart although he was seeing somebody when Lizzie needed help. Loved reading it and hopefully I will read more from Kathryn Freeman, I really liked the stories from her so far 

I loved this story. Okay it is not the most complex book but sometimes you don’t need that and just want a romantic and easy to read story.

Two people are crazy about each other but are afraid to lose their precious friendship. Lizzie( Elizabeth) is moved away to Los Angeles and is a model now. Nick Templeton, who lives in England, is an accountant and thinks his life is not exciting enough for Lizzie “the party-girl”. He has a crush on Lizzie since he was the best friend of Lizzie’ s brother. After a tragic car accident she ran away to America because she felt responsible. That day both her parents died and her brother got in a coma. Since that tragedy Lizzie and Nick just have rarely contact on the phone, However when something unpleasant happens Nick is immediately flying to Lizzie to help. For a while she stays in England but she has to go back. Lizzie needs to earn money to pay for the nursery home where her brother lives now.

Can the love survive? Or is Luke too damn nice? Is their life to complicated or will they find a way out? This is a book about friendship, love and believing in yourself. The characters or charming and it is a quick read . I think this is a perfect book to enjoy on a beach, swimming pool or in your own garden. Kathryn Freeman has written a story about two people who are deeply in love but are too damn nice to go for what they actually want. Lizzie and Nick are lovely people who don’t want to hurt anyone but forget to live. Too damn nice shows that taking a risk is all worth it. A tale with drama, humor and lots of love.

By Lie Frooninckx

This story is about personal opportunities, wrong assumptions and hope for better.
Nick and Lizzie, whom grew up together as “brother and sister”, discover their love for each other and want to show this to the world. Not easy, never easy..

Nick Templeton has been in love with Elisabeth “Lizzie” Donavue for as long as he can remember, but kept his feelings well buried. On the day of her 18th birthday, Nick plans to tell Lizzie how he feels about her. The announcement that Lizzie has secured a modelling contract and she is going to New York, changed his plan.
Lizzie becomes a successful model but then her world comes crashing down. Nick is on the first flight over to pick up the pieces…
Despite her high flying modelling career, Lizzie is quite insecure and doesn’t think she is worthy of anyone as ‘nice’ as Nick. Nick doesn’t think he is good enough for someone as stunning as Lizzie to even look twice at. It is clear that they are both meant for each other ….

Too Damn Nice is a tale of unrequited love and missed opportunity !!

Thanks to Choc-Lit, I fell in love with this author. So when I had the opportunity to read another one of her books, I grabbed it with both hands. And I didn’t get disappointed! This is a story where both main characters love each other desperately since they were teenagers, but as so often is the case, are too afraid to come clean about their feelings. We get to know them in that period, only to fast forward a few years later and then another jump until present day. Both Lizzie and Nick have moved on with their lives (or at least, tried to….), Lizzie as a topmodel, and Nick as a ‘normal, boring’ accountant. But Lizzie’s life gets turned upside down when someone she thinks that cares about her, betrays her on the worst possible way. Of course childhood friend and best friend of her brother comes at the rescue! Of course I’m not going to explain the whole story here, but from this moment on the real story begins. The author succeeds in writing a romantic story without both characters falling head over heels in love without even knowing each other that so well. As you read both sides of the story, you get the feeling that you REALLY know Lizzie and Nick. From the very start until the end you are cheering for them. And once in a while I facepalmed myself when there was a miscommunication between them. Exluding the being-a-topmodel-part, and the way too f*cked up betrayal, this is a story that could happen to all of us. Haven’t we all ever fallen in love with someone and were just too afraid to come clean about it as we didn’t want to jeopardize the friendship or making a total fool of ourselves? I could go on for pages explaining why I loved this book and why I’m a fan of Kathryn Freeman, bit I’m going to spare you all that! Just read it, and also the other books, and you’ll understand it perfectly!

When i saw the cover and read the synopsis of this book, i immediatly thought “ this is the ultimate summer read”. To my surprise this was quite a dark story. Lizzie went through some horrible experience to start with. Add to that the trauma of the loss of her family and you know that you’ll have a broken woman. Nick, for me, was extremely hard to like. I kept yelling “just tell her how you feel” at the pages. It became a source of frustration for me, because that is what this entire story is made of “i want her but She doesn’t want me (Yes She does) so i’ll keep fretting and feeling sorry for myself”. And Yes, that Goes both ways. Not qualities i search for in a male Hero. I was a bit dissapointed at the end of this book because i thought i signed up for some fluffy romance and instead got a fairly depressing story. I’m sorry to say that i was not a fan 🙁

Thank you, Choc Lit

The girl in the photograph – Kirsty Ferry

Synopsis

What if the past was trying to teach you a lesson?

Staying alone in the shadow of an abandoned manor house in Yorkshire would be madness to some, but art enthusiast Lissy de Luca can’t wait. Lissy has her reasons for seeking isolation, and she wants to study the Staithes Group – an artists’ commune active at the turn of the twentieth century.

Lissy is fascinated by the imposing Sea Scarr Hall – but the deeper she delves, the stranger things get. A lonely figure patrols the cove at night, whilst a hidden painting leads to a chilling realisation. And then there’s the photograph of the girl; so beautiful she could be a mermaid … and so familiar.

As Lissy further immerses herself, she comes to an eerie conclusion: The occupants of Sea Scarr Hall are long gone, but they have a message for her – and they’re going to make sure she gets it.

This is a beautiful romantic and intriguing book. It is all about passion and love but with complications. Lizzy and Stefano are the couples in the present. One day they deeply fell in love but unfortunately the relationship did not have an happy-ending. They have not seen each other for seven years and their hearts were broken when they left..Today they get a new chance to set things right. Stefano has, with his friend and Lizzys brother Jon, a project. Lizzy was invited by Jon and is doing some research of the live of the local Stainless Painters. First Lizzy no longer wants to be a part of the life of Stefano.. Nevertheless the attraction between them is unbelievable. When Lizzy sees a strange things at her house she is afraid and founds protection with Stefano. Lizzy is digging into the live of the local painters group because she loves to know more about the history of the artist community . When the photographer and the art lover discovers at Sea Scar House a beautiful photograph they start a search for the past. Stefano and Lizzy reveal the dramatic life of the “mermaid” Lorelei and Julian. The characters in the two allied stories are so vivid you must to love this book. In the past and in the present both couples just want to find true love but that’s not always easy.
The girl in the photograph is a heartwarming story that has a message that you hopefully never forget: “Remember to truly listen to the ones you love, be the person you really wants to be and live your live with passion”. I didn’t read the first part and the book was now already clear to me. Even so I want to give the advice to read the first book. Why? I think when you read that one the magic will even be bigger! I will read it and maybe I discover more answers …
By Lie Frooninckx
This book contains two stories. They both play in and around Scarsdale’s House, Sea Scarr Hall.
It’s the story Lizzy and Stefano now and this of Lorelei and Julian a century ago.
Since you read back and forth about both couples, the stories are a bit difficult to follow, but so beautiful.
Lorelei meets the tenant of the beach house on a ball held by her husband, Lord Scarsdale. Since she was forced into an unhappy marriage, she finds with Julian the freedom she so lacks. For years she has been a model for different painters, likes creating new paintings herself mostly in watercolor, mostly sea views. Because of the attention she gets from Julian, she finds the courage to leave Scarsdale and to start a new life as Laura Cooper, far from her beloved Julian, who was convinced that Lorelei stayed in the fire that broke out in The Hall , the day they both would disappear.
Lizzy is a free-spirited woman who loves history, especially this from local painters. Seven years ago she was friends with Stef, a very nice photographer. By a misunderstanding she left him and tried to build up a new life. Thanks to her brother and friends, Stef come back, worked hard to get Lizzy back and finally they fall in love again.
Both stories show a lot of similarity, making it difficult to separate the one from the other.
In the end Lorelei / Lizzy and Julian / Stef seem to be so connected that you have to read their stories … wanting or not!
Beautiful story then and now …. highly recommended !!

The girl in the photograph is a nice romantic book. It reads smoothly and you can relax with it. I always like it when a book tells two (or more) stories; especially when it’s woven in to two timelines.
Here we have the one of Lissy and Stefano, and the tale of Lorelei and Julian. But I must say that I liked the parts with Lorelei and Julian best. I understand it is book two of a series and I didn’t read the others. But I can’t say I missed them, you can fully follow the story as if it was a standalone.
If I’m honest, then I must add; that I sometimes had the feeling that the story is missing something, I feel like the link between the stories should have been more present or elaborated.
Concluding, definitely a book with just enough drama, a little bit of tension and a lot of love. Add it on your never ending reading list.
By Patsi Demarsin
I just finished reading this one and honestly, it was not exactly what I expected. It was not bad at all but I had a bit of trouble with the present and the past story. To me they were both good stories but should have been sepparated. Maybe a book with two short stories. First the one of Lorelei and Julian and then the story of Lissy and Stef to end with Lissy seeing what she sees at the end of the book. Now, for me it was a bit unnecessary confusing at times. I was in the middle of Lissy’s story when Lorelei suddenly popped in… At those moments I really wanted to know what would happen with Lissy and couldn’t care less about Lorelei. My solution: I devided the chapters and read the book the way I would have written it. First I read all the chapters about Lorelei and Julian and afterwards I read those that went back to Lissy and Stef. Okay, it was a bit of a going up and down, but it did the trick for me… I just couldn’t put the book down anymore. So, my conclusion : was it good? Absolutly… Once I figured out how I made it work for me. I must admit, I expected more paranormal stuff…
By Els Ebraert
The third book in the series, but my first one. I did not have the feeling a had to read the two other parts to be able to follow the story here and that is always a good point. I have to admit it made me curious about what happened before.
Is it predictable? Yes, some parts are but I did not mind. The overall story is good and that is what counts. It’s the way that the author takes you to those predictions that makes or breaks a book.
There was one little thing at the end of the book that I did not understand, but maybe I missed something somewhere

Ailsa works as a weddingplanner and helps other couples to have their dreamday. This year she has a wedding on Christmas. The evening before the wedding she gives herself some time to dream. Carrick Park Hotel, where the wedding will happen, has a magical sphere for her. Out of nowhere, Ned appears. They have an amazing evening together. Ailsa tells him about her dream to meet Ella Carrick. When her dream comes true she lives a magical adventure. The way Kirsty Ferry writes is wonderful. I also read ‘Watch for me by moonlight’ which I really liked but I even love this one more. The magic in this story blows you away completely. It’s such a lovely story. Normally I’m not a big fan of open endings but I really loved this one. This open ending isn’t really open. It’s open enough to let you dream but not too much. I can’t wait to read more from Kirsty Ferry.

After some research I found out that this story was the 4th of a serie. (The Rossetti Mysteries) I haven’t read the first three, but I don’t think it’s necessary. Beautiful setting, perfect timescene, after all it’s Christmas and truly lovely characters. I love the mysterious Ned, still thinking he’s some kind of angel  but you’ll have to find out yourself off course. If you love christmas, lovestories, romance, timetravelling, costumes and novella’s, then this is the right story for you. I’m planning to read the three other stories as well. Thank you Choc lit and Boekenfans for this opportunity

What a better period to read a Christmas story? I was looking forward to read this story, but sometimes my thoughts were ‘ a little bit more magic would have been better’.
It’s not that I didn’t like the story, because I did. But I missed a connection with the main characters. You get to know them, but in my opinion only superficially. Ailsa and Ned meet each other and immediately there is a mutual interest. And how Ned is described, who wouldn’t be interested? But looks aren’t everything in the world and I really would have liked to know him better. Out of the blue he seems to be a time traveller and he takes Ailsa with him to meet the past owners of the Carrick Park Hotel, who died in tragic circumstances.
And only after the time travelling part, I was able to enjoy the story. Here did the writer a great job in dragging you back in the years and make you imagine how wonderful it would be to actual be there. After that I was intrigued into the story and kept reading it until the story was over.
It was a rough start to begin with, but after hanging on a little while, the story gets better and better. Even if I missed the initial connection with Ailsa and Ned, it was an enjoyable story to read and in the end I was hoping to read more adventures about their time travelling together.

I have read this one. Another special story. Do not expect a synopsis because I refuse to write one. Just let me say this… It started a little slow and I wondered where it would go… But… Oh wow… I loved it! It was beautiful. The fact again that past and present becoming together in a most peculiar way… Marvelous! And the ending…. I seen it coming but stil… I cried… Anyway… I am a fan of Kirsty

Ailsa McCormack, wedding coordinator, has a job planned in the Carrick Park Hotel on Christmas Day. To make sure everything is fine, she’s working late this evening and she’ll have an early start in the morning. So she’ll stay overnight at the Hotel. To relax before bedtime, she wanders into the Drawing Room, where the wedding will be held and bumps into Ned, a handsome stranger. They share a glass of wine and talk about the history of Carrick Park Hotel. Ailsa tells Ned that she would love to meet Ella, the Lady of the house, and her husband Adam, who diappeared in 1865 and was never heard of again. Next morning, Ailsa wakes up in a different era, seems to be married to Ned and it’s Christmas Eve 1865……
Beautiful Christmas Story !!

When life in the fast lane threatens to implode …

Review

Car drivers are a brand with an image to be maintained. Aiden Foster is racing for the same team, Delta, as his father Sebastian who died in a crash. People expect hi mto be as good as his father who won the World Championship 5 times. And Aiden is struggling to live up to the expectations. Melanie Hunt is the Delta press officer and has a crush on Aiden. She has a way of seeing past the facade, right into the core of a person. But Aiden can’t get distracted if he ever wants to win a World Championship. When a young boy comes stirring up things for Aiden as well, he has to find a way to keep focussed. It was the first time I read a book by this author. It’s not the kind of story I usually read. I am more into the ‘quest fort he hidden relic’ kind of story. But this romantic story was a great change and I absolutely loved it. I would love to read another book by this author some time in the future. Kathryn Freeman gives us a good view into the racing world. From practice sessions to familiarise with the track to getting cars ready for qualifying. The racing is fast paced action, and you live through every emotion Aiden goes through when he’s driving. You are really rooting for him. There are some time jumps in the story. No major ones but just a week or a bit more. This gives the story a quicker pace and makes you want to read on. It is more than just a book about a car driver and racing on the track. Freeman explains what is going on behind the scenes, tells about the racing engineer and press officer. Being a journalist myself, it was an interesting take on the story because that is not the thing we see when we watch a race on television. It was refreshing to see a woman around the racing track keeping up with the guys. The cat and mouse. Will I? Won’t I? I love that kind of thing. A strong woman in a story without making it look like it has been written to make her strong for the sake of it. The book has 30+ chapters and is just over 300 pages. Which means about 10 pages a chapter. That’s the kind of layout I like. It’s easy to stop reading when you are on a train and need to get off. Actually it’s the ideal chapter lenght, I love that. I would definitely pick up another book by Freeman and give this one 4*/5

Melissa, an ex-model and divorced woman, tries to build up her life with her very shy son William. She has banned all men. But when her friend Alice found a place for her son for tennis lessons, her wall starts to crumble when she mets Daniel McCormick. A former tennis legend and her secret crush for years.
William, 7 year old son of Melisa and Lawrence, is a very shy boy. Melissa tries her best to break down his shell and it finally happens when he started to follow lessons with Daniel. His relationship with his mother finally blossems. But then his father comes back in his life after years of silence. And Willam is truly petrified by the thought of spending time with his father. Afterall it was his father who told him father Christmas don’t exist.
Daniel, former Wimbledon tennis champion and familyman, has his own tennis school. And allthought his sisters warning about Melissa, when he met her, he’s instantly attracted by her and vice versa. He’s not only warms the heart of Melissa, he also helps William coming out of his shell and trying to convince him that father christmas really exists.
A real Christmas story about love, family, friends and of course Santa. I love reading it. A real feelgood story, a little predictable but who cares? It’s Christmas!! And then we only just need happy endings. So thank you Choc Lits and Boekenfans!!
By Tiziana Langone
Even though it’s still a couple weeks left until Christmas, I started this book with curious anticipation.
Already in the prologue you get to know the main character and her sad story. Instantly you despise her husband and you cheer for a happy end. Melissa never experienced the true Christmas spirit thanks to her ex-husband and distant parents. When she finally stands up for herself, her first and only priority is her son William. And a new love interest? Totally not in her plans… But that’s only until William starts with taking tennis lessons from Daniel.
Both characters aren’t looking for falling in love again, but of course you cannot just decide to not fall in love. This isn’t a simple love story where you just get to know all the characters superficially. The writer really explains the thoughts of each person, so that you really get involved into the story and cheer for them. And how not to adore little William??? He is the reason Melissa and Daniel bond. This little shy guy takes tennis lessons from super-hunk Daniel who proves himself more than just a teacher. Melissa sees how William opens up and starts to feel more than just friendship for the man responsible for the changes in William.
The story is very easy to read. No chapters that never end and you’re looking for the end of it so you can take a break. Every chapter has the perfect length. But that didn’t stop me from binge-reading and the book was finished quicker than I thought.
This writer has just found an extra fan!

A second Christmas wish’, my faith in santa is back again!
‘A second Christmas wish’ is written by Kathryn Freeman. On the cover you see a cosy house, Christmas trees, snow and santa’s sled. The quote on it is very stimulating to start reading. You immediately expect a nice and beautiful story.
‘A second Christmas wish’ tells the story of Melissa and her son William. Mellissa escaped a terrible marriage, her son became a victim of it as well. Because of his past he’s a very shy and timid boy.
My favourite character is Daniel. The way Kathryn made him come alive is amazing. If the book was written in a different way it wouldn’t been as strong as it is now. Now it’s on point. In the middle of the book I hoped that everything would be allright, that everything would work out. His sister, Alice, is another awesome character. She isn’t present very much but she does some things that decide the story. Beautiful done.
The end is done lovely. The whole story gets an beautiful closure while it still keeps an open ending.
‘A second Christmas wish’ is ideal if you want to drown in the Christmas spirit. A lovely book to dream for a while.
By Lie Frooninckx
Such a pageturner … Once you start reading you can’t stop! A beautiful Christmas story! At a familydinner, just before Christmas, Lawrence tells his parents that Melissa is leaving him. Her dreamwedding was over from the moment Lawrence’s true caracter started showing: he is the lord and master, everyone does wat he wants. When she became pregnant, Lawrence wanted an abortion, which she refused. After the birth of her son, the boy was tolerated by Lawrence but no more. Two years later, Melissa and her son William live in a modest house, and Melissa has been designing clothes. The now 7-year-old William is a very shy boy with few friends. Melissa’s best friend Alice has a son who is taking tennis lessons and proposes to enroll William in the same group. The tennis teacher is her brother Daniel. William enjoys the lessons more and more and can’t stop talking about the teacher and the fun they are having. Melissa sees Daniel as a good friend. Christmas is getting closer and so a letter must be written to Santa. William no longer believes in Santa and Melissa wants to change this. Usually she helps William with the letter, but this year it’s different. To prove that Santa still exists and that it is not mom who buys the gifts, the letter must be written without any help. If the right gift is placed underneath the tree, then there is a Santa. Daniel finds out that there are two wishes in William’s letter. The first wish is a new racket and the second ….. Are both wishes being fulfilled?

A few weeks ago I read another of this author’s books and when Choclit publishers gave me the opportunity to read this one as well, I was very pleased. It is a beautiful christmas story about love, familily and trust. It shows that protecting yourself against hurt is normal, but once you are able to trust again, you can also find love once more.
It is an easy read, fluently written and not too sweet. I enjoyed it a lot.

I truly tought I signed up for a haunting ghoststory, boy was I wrong. This book is a paranormal romance, emphasize on the romance. The story follows Elodie who had a sixth sense and Alex who manages his family estate. They share a past and have a failed romance between them. When a thunderstorm hits their village and wrecks the tomb of one of Alex’ anceisters, elodie’s sixth sense kicks in. Through flashes of memories they find out what happend to georgiana and find themselves growing back towards each other. This book has me in dubio whether i liked it or not. there were chapters i could not read fast enough and then there were chapters that seemed to drag on forever. I really liked the story of georgiana and ben and was a bit sad when it took up so little of the pages. I would have loved for their story to be the focal point as they were much more interesting and intruiging than Alex and elodie, the latter who i found a bit dull tbh. I also found the lineage a bit confusing, from what i understood Alex and elodie are related? The author has a very Nice manner of writing, which makes this book a very easy, comfy read. It’s one of those books that lend themselves for a rainy, autumn afternoon. So if you are looking for a Nice lovestory with just a hint of the paranormal this is the book for you!

I have read this one. For the review, I have a problem. I don’t want to write a synopsis because I won’t give too much away. So I am going to just tell how I experienced this book. It started out normal. Then it soon became a bit more mysterious… A bit later present and past came together in a strange way… It was only later I realized paranormal things were sneeking in… Paranormal is a red ribbon through the whole story… Well written, nice to read… I want more of this… Bring it on! Oh yeah… The book… Love is in the air… It is a romance, but not all roses and moonlight! There is so much going on which makes it so exiting. You just can’t stop reading. The beginning might be a bit slow, but after a few pages… Off I was! Unstoppable! And that is all I am going to say because otherwise I completely ruin the story with spoilers! Watch for me by moonlight: 4 * no doubt
By Kim Wymeersch
Watch for me by moonlight tells the story of Alexander and Elodie in a small town called Hartsford.
A tomb is severely damaged during a storm along with other things in town. But is all the damage material? Or are their other things happening as well?
Elodie can see ghosts, she’s used to that. But this? This is something brand new.
We follow Alex(ander) and Elodie while they try to find out what happened in Hartsford. During their search for the truth we also learn more about their past. It might not have been as pretty as we thought. At the same time we follow the story of Georgiana and Ben. What is their story? And why is this mystery so important?
I really liked to read it. The similarities between the past and present are lovely to discover. The fact that it’s a bit paranormal is something that got me interested. Kirsty made room for mystery, romance and even some horror in this story.
There was something that I didn’t like as well. Elodie sees ghosts, we know that pretty soon. We also discover that she was bullied for it and kept it for herself because of that. But at some point everyone in the story seems to be okay with seeing ghosts. That’s a bit unbelievable for me, it goes too easy. But beside this it’s a lovely read.
Kirsty writes as subtitle: ‘book 1- Hartford mysteries’. That really makes me curious to read more. The way that Kirsty writes is very pleasant to read.
My final opinion is as followed: Yes, there is one thing that I find unbelievable but I still finished the book because I wanted to know how everything would turn out. So, it really is a lovely book. A book that you can use to travel in the past.
